JOHN HENRY PALMER
The death of John Henry Palmer, long time Waukon resident, occurred Tuesday, May 11, [1965] at Waukon Veterans' Memorial Hospital where he was a patient for 12 days. He had been in poor health for the past year. He was born December 22, 1880 in Franklin township and was a son of William Henry and Emma Smith Palmer.
He was educated in the local schools and was a school teacher. Later he was Allamakee county auditor for 12 years, and was also employed as a bookkeeper. January 8, 1903 he married Delia May Stahl in Franklin township and they were parents of four children.
Survivors are his wife, three daughters: Mrs. Felicia Dresser, Postville; Mrs. Earl (Elinor) Burt, Chicago, and Mrs. Harry (Theresa) Morgan of Lawndale, California, and a son Wilson of Chillicothe, Ohio; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Mr. Palmer was a member of Forest Mills EUB church, Masonic Lodge, MeMolay Consistory and Eastern Star.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 14, at 2:00 p.m. in St. Paul's Methodist Church in Waukon with the Rev. Jack DeLong officiating. Interment was in the Odd Fellows cemetery in Rossville with Masonic graveside services.
