For Johnnie Dougherty

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 24 at St. Mary's Church, Lycurgus, for Johnnie E. Dougherty of Waukon. He died July 20 at the Good Samaritan Home.

He was born March 3, 1894 at Waukon to John E. Dougherty and Mary Ellen McCormick. He was educated in the rural schools and farmed in this area his entire life. May 4, 1926 he was married to Anna Haas at Lycurgus. Mrs. Dougherty died in 1942.

Surviving are four daughters and four sons: Mrs. Oscar (Florence)Lembke of Decorah, Mrs. William (Mabel)Sires of Spring Grove, MN, Ralph of Waukon, Bernard of New Albin, Vincent of Prairieburg, Mrs. Charles(Anna)Souhrada of Preston, MN, Mrs. Edmund(Marie)Herold of Nashua, and Frances of Blakesburg. Also surviving are 33 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, William and Raymond of Freeport, Ill.

He was preceded in death by twin daughters; two sons, Cletus and Leo; two grandchildren, Robert J. Sires and Marilyn(Lembke)Brandt; his parents; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Ronan and Marguerite Dougherty; and six brothers, Joe, Leo, Cyril, Emmett, Clement, and Donald. Father Rahe officiated the service.

The following grandsons were casketbearers: Charles Lembke, William J. Sires,Jr., Pat Dougherty, Greg Dougherty, Mike Dougherty, and Shawn Souhrada.

Honorary pallbearers were grandsons: Kenneth Lembke, David Dougherty, Eddie Herold, and John Dougherty.

Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements with burial at Lycurgus.
