Ruth Martha Shafer, 84, of Waukon, formerly of Postville, died Friday, January 8, 2010 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon following a short illness. Funeral Services were held Monday, January 11 at the Schutte–Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville. The Rev. Gary Catterson officiated. Burial followed in the Postville Cemetery, Postville.

Ruth was born October 10, 1925 in Ludlow Township to Carl and Martha (Goeke) Shafer. She attended Ludlow #8 Country School.

Ruth was married to Milton “Buster” Oldag for many years and resided with him in Postville. Ruth worked at Groth Turkey Plant in Postville and bartended for many years. She loved going to auctions and garage sales. Ruth was a fun-loving person who will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her niece, Judy Adam of Waukon; her nephew, Roger (Delores) Klocke of Waterloo; and her great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Martha Shafer; her husband, Buster Oldag; two sisters, Viola Leubke and Gladys Klocke; and one brother, Reuben Shafer.

Schutte – Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville is in charge of arrangements.
