Charles Gaunitz Rites Are Held
Charles A Gaunitz, 78, Lansing, died at his home Wednesday, August 11. Funeral rites were held in United Methodist church, Lansing, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 14 with the Rev. John J. Holl officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.
He was born February 6, 1898 in Lafayette township, rural Lansing, to William and Lydia Gaunitz. He married Hulda Ewing December 3, 1930 in Lansing. He farmed in the area until his retirement in 1965. He was an assessor for many years.
Surviving are his wife, a son Howard of Lansing, two brothers, William of Pompano Beach, FL and Emmet of Lansing, and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Emmett Gaunitz, Jr., Richard Gaunitz, Wayne Snitker, Myron Bray, Robert Johnson and Vic Johnson.
Burke-Thornburg funeral home of Lansing was in charge of arrangements.
