He passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2001 in the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He had reached the age of 65 years, five months and 17 days.

He was baptized June 21, 1936 in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville by the Reverend R. B. Garten and confirmed there on April 12, 1950 by the Reverend Frederick R. Ludwig. Dale attended the Springfield and the Oak hill country schools and graduated from Postville High School in 1954.

On that day as well, Dale became a father to Joyce's nine children, a role which he came to cherish throughout his life. He liked attending the athletic events in which they participated.

Dale drove a milk truck for the Carnation Plant for many years. But first of all he was a farmer and really enjoyed the work that went with it. Dale was an avid Hawkeye fan and never missed an opportunity to watch the games on television. He also loved working with his roses, fishing, and snowmobiling.
