Romelda Klein, 87, of ManorCare Health Systems, died Sunday, May 14 at the care center from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

She was born June 3, 1912, in Grand Meadow Township, rural Postville, daughter of Edwin M. and Louise K. Kluss Gass. She married Lawrence P. Klein on August 21, 1937, in Waterloo. He died March 29, 1993.

Mrs. Klein attended Normal Training School (UNI), Cedar Falls, and worked as an accountant for American Trust and Savings Bank, Dubuque.

She is survived by two sons, Leo M. O'Hara of Postville and Michael L. Klein of Palatine, IL; a daughter, Kathryn K. Elder of Waterloo; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; and a brother, LeRoy J. Gass of West Union. She was preceded in death by a grandson. Burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
