Pearl King, 88, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2002, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.
The daughter of John Samuel and Mathilda Nelson Kaeser, Pearl was born July 25, 1913, in Waukon, where she grew up. She was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church. She graduated from Waukon High School and from the Calhoun Secretarial School in Minneapolis, MN. She worked as a secretary for the Federal Land Bank in Waukon and Decorah.
She was united in marriage to Kenyon V. King on April 12, 1935. Pearl was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic where she was church organist for many years and was active in various groups in the church.
Pearl is survived by one daughter, Janet (Thomas) King Smith of Valpariso, IN; one granddaughter, Deborah (David) Smith Bowling of Iowa Falls; one great-granddaughter Lauren Rae Bowling; one sister, Mildred (Ralph) Osterholz; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Kenyon V. King.
Funeral services were held May 16, 2002 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic with Pastor Ron Barnett officiating. Casketbearers were Dick Nissen, Larry Reimer, Haralan Gronewold, David Bowling, Craig Nissen, and Everett Rechtenbach. Honorary casketbearers were Don Nelson, Ralph, Richard and Kenneth Osterholz.
