Loraine L. Kruger, 79, of Columbia, MO., formerly of Waukon, Postville and Decorah, died Sunday, August 22, 1999 at her home in Columbia, MO. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 26 at 11 a.m. at Salem United Church of Christ in rural Waukon, IA, with Rev. Paul Lionberger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Loraine Lena Kruger was born on September 19, 1919, in rural Waukon, IA. Her parents were August and Martha (Becker) Snitker. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem United Church of Christ and attended the rural Ludlow Township schools. On February 8, 1945 she married Elmer Kruger at Salem United Church of Christ. They farmed together in the Ludlow area. Following Elmer's death she lived for several years in Postville and Decorah before moving to Columbia, MO in 1997. She was active in the Salem Church and its Ladies Aid all her life. Loraine also enjoyed music and dancing, playing cards and spending time with her family.

Loraine is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmer, 3 sisters, Norma Kruger, Florence Koenig, and Inez Gerleman, her brother Ralph Snitker and an infant brother.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Sandra (Dennis) Stegall of Columbia, Mo, and Corinne (Paul) Hayhurst of Midland, MI, a son, Dervin (Lois) Kruger of California, MO, 5 grandchildren, Alissa and Kyle Stegall, Benjamin and Ashley Kruger, and Kimberly Hayhurst, and 3 sisters, Mildred Sohn of Sheboygan, WI, Ruby (Loren) Koenig of Postville, IA, and LaVerne (Donald) Koester of West Union, IA as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Casketbearers were Don Sherman, Larry Koester, Dennis Koenig, David Gerleman, Kenneth Sohn and James Koenig.
