Velma Fredericka Wilhelmina Ohloff
Funeral services for Velma Ohloff were held Saturday, Oct. 7, 1989 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville. The Rev. Charles W. Miller officiated. The soloist was Raletta Thomas and the organist was Jan Schultz. The Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville cemetery.
Velma Fredericka Wilhelmina Ohloff, oldest child of August and Dorothea (Schultz) Schultz was born March 3, 1897 in Post Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. She died Oct. 4, 1989 in the Good Samaritan Center in Postville.
She was baptized on May 29, 1897 and confirmed on April 9, 1911 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. She attended Postville schools.
On August 18, 1928 she was married to Charles H. Ohloff at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. They lived on the farm in Bloomfield Twp., near Frankville, for 20 years before retiring and moving to Postville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, who died Aug. 12, 1977; a daughter, Kathleen Koevenig, who died in 1984; a grandson, Thomas Ohloff; a brother who died in infancy and four other brothers, Elmer, Lawrence, Kenneth and Roy Schultz; and a sister, Bertha Wirshing.
She is survived by a son, William; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Schultz of Postville, and four sisters, Mrs. Milda Waters of Highland, IN, Mrs. Gertrude Kohl of Fairbault, MN, Mrs. Ira (Mardelia) Brooks of Bentonville, AR, and Mrs. Doris Albertson of Boise, ID.
Pallbearers were John K. Schultz, Robert A. Schultz, Roger Radloff, August Schultz, Lores Nichols and Mike Kruckenberg.
