Death Comes To Mrs. D.A. Davis
Well Known Lady Succumbs March 16 In LaCrosse From A Blood Clot
Mrs. D.A. Davis passed away Monday, March 16th at the St.Francis Hospital at LaCrosse. She was taken to LaCrosse a month ago, and underwent an operation for the removal of a tumor. She was recovering nicely when a blood clot formed, which caused her death. She was 48 years old. Mrs. Davis who was Paulina Bell Cayton before her marriage, was born May 12, 1886, near Forest Mills, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Cayton of Luana. She received her education in the rural schools, and also attended the State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. She taught school several terms and was a successful teacher. On December 7, 1907, she was united in marriage to David Arthur Davis by Reverend R.L. VanNice. They spent their entire life on a farm near Waterville. Four children were born to this union, all of whom survive. Mrs. Davis was a good Christian woman, and will be missed by her family and neighbors. She leaves to mourn her death her sorrowing husband and four children, Mrs. Arthur Hamm, Mrs. Melvin Olson, Mrs. Clarence Svebakken, and Jerry Arthur; her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Cayton of Luana, and one brother L.D. Cayton of Richland Center, WI. One brother O.C. Cayton of Colorado Springs, passed away several years ago. She also is survived by five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday at the Schultz Funeral Home in Monona. The Reverend G.W. Turner, pastor of the Methodist Church at Monona conducted the services and burial was made in the Monona Cemetery. The casket bearers were Ray Leas, Harry Leas, Arthur Leas, Will Brown, Charles Brown, and Jerry Hawkins.
