Leo Harris

Leo Roger "Dutch" Harris, 59, of Postville, died June 19.

Leo, son of Obert and Clara Klein Harris, was born October 6, 1919, near Rossville in Allamakee County, Iowa. He received his education at West Grove School northeast of Postville. On June 24, 1950, he was united in marriage to Lillian Irene Monson, to this union three children were born.

"Dutch" served in the U. S. Navy in World War II. He lived in and around Postville most of his life and was employed as a truck driver, service mechanic and at the United Building Centers. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the American Legion and the VFW.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; a son, David of Iowa City; and two daughters, Randy of Decorah and Carol of Postville. He is also survived by six brothers, Milo of Lynxville, WI; Robert "Bill" of Postville; George of Lemoore, CA; Virgil of Bloomingdale, IL; Donald of San Pedro, CA; and Russell of Manchester; and five sisters, Gertrude (Mrs. Robert Bluck) of State Center; Beulah (Mrs. Harlan Schultz) of Cresco; Mrs. Ruth Burnham of Sparta, WI; Hazel (Mrs. Luther Pearcy) of Electra, TX; and Lula (Mrs. Marvin Kruse) of Luana.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. June 22 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The Rev. David R. Nelson officiated. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
