Bill Harris, Sr. Services Held Recently

Funeral services for Bill Harris, Sr., 75, Postville, were held Thursday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church. The Rev. R. Michael Brown officiated with Schutte Funeral Service in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.

Bill died Monday, Feb. 7, 1994 in the Good Samaritan Center, Waukon.

Robert William Harris, Sr., son of Obert and Clara (Klein) Harris, was born March 4, 1918 at Rossville, Iowa. He was baptized March 26, 1939 in Bethel Church north of Postville and confirmed April 2, 1939 at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Bill attended the West Grove School in Post Township, north of Postville. He entered the U. S. Army and served in Japan as a M. P. during World War II.

On Nov. 1, 1952 he was married to Donna A. Ellis at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. They lived in Postville where Bill was a trucker for over 50 years.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the AMVETS and the American Legion, Arthur F. Brandt Post No. 518.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, William Robert, who died in infancy; four brothers, Milo, Leo, George and Russell, and two sisters, Gertrude Block and Hazel Pearcy.

Bill is survived by his wife, Donna; two sons, Robert W. Harris, Jr., Postville, and Bradley L. Harris, Ft. Atkinson; a daughter Paulette M. Schultz, Johnston, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two brothers, Virgil, West Chicago, Ill., and Don Harris, Bishop, Calif.; three sisters, Beulah Schultz, Postville; Ruth Burham, Sparta, Wis., and Lula Kruse, Luana.
