Vera Delight Nichols

Vera Delight Hamm Nichols died June 22 at the home of her daughter, Charlene, of Dubuque. She was born March 16, 1920, in Waterville to Jerry and Kate Kennedy Hamm. She received her education in Sixteen school.

Dec. 29, 1938 she married Samuel Clark Nichols at the Little Brown Church. They had 5 children. The couple farmed in the Sixteen area all their married life. Vera was employed by Affordable Homes since 1985 until the time of her illness.

She was a member of the Pentecostal Church, Prairie du Chien, WI.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Clark, who died March 4, 1982; and 3 brothers, Lawrence, Lester and one who died in infancy.

Surviving is one son, Chad, of Dubuque; 4 daughters, Mrs. Charlene Jones and Elaine Nichols of Dubuque, Carol Nichols of Waterville and June Nichols of Marion; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 3 brothers, Harmon and Barton Hamm of Waterville and Guy Hamm of Dubuque; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Helen Jones of Waterville and Mrs. Bernice Erickson of Rochester, MN.

Services were Thursday, June 25, 1987 at 2 p.m. at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona with Pastors Laurel Kast and Daniel Rounds officiating. Burial was in Sixteen Cemetery, rural Waterville. The organist and soloist was Jeannie Spaulding.

Pallbearers were Kevin McShane, Gary Ambrose, Leslie Ambrose, Jeff Hamm, Kenny Hamm, Greg Hamm, Brian Erickson and Keith Hamm.

Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of the service.
