Verla L. Niemann
Funeral services for Verla Niemann were held Saturday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. in St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stoddard, WI. The Rev. R. W. Kloehn officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Fredericksburg, IA.
Verla L Niemann, daughter of Marion "M.R." and Vera (Lickiss) Brandenburg, was born Nov. 9, 1937 in Fayette County, near Alpha, Iowa. She died Wednesday, Nov. 5 1986 in Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, WI.
She was baptized and confirmed at the Richfield Lutheran Church near Sumner. She graduated from the Fredericksburg High School in 1956.
August 7, 1960 she was married to Darwin K. Niemann at the Richfield Lutheran Church. They were parents of three children. They lived in Fredericksburg where Verla had been employed as a secretary at the school and Darwin was in the lumber business. They first moved to Postville in 1961. In 1983 they moved to Stoddard, WI where Verla had been employed in a grocery store.
She is preceded in death by her father, and a sister, Marian, (Mrs. Charles Briggs).
Surviving are her husband, Darwin, a son, Dennis and his wife, Karla, Ft. Bragg, NC, two daughters, Susan Niemann, Waukon and Darla Niemann, Stoddard, WI, her mother, Vera Brandenburg, Fredericksburg, 2 brothers, Amos Brandenburg, Fredericksburg and Clifford Brandenburg, Tucson, AZ, 7 sisters, Mavis (Mrs. Lyle Laabs), Waucoma, Virginia (Mrs. Dale Conklin), Hawkeye, Darlene (Mrs. Lyle Steege) and Charlotte (Mrs. Dick Wuttke) both of Fredericksburg, Donna (Mrs. Paul Klotz), Cedar Falls, Beverly (Mrs. Everett Hyman), Oelwein and Leitha (Mrs. John Ross), Ionia.
She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Stoddard, WI.
Casket bearers were Maurice Elliott, Roger Kuhse, Leon Blumhagen, Robert Reierson, James Elliott and Jerry Schmudlach.
