MRS. J. P. (Carrie Jane Taylor) ELLIS
Mrs. J. P. Ellis, nee Carrie Jane Taylor, was born at Utica, Nebraska on December 28, 1881, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harlo C. Taylor. The family moved to Postville in 1894.
She was married to J. P. Ellis on July 3, 1900. To this union were born nine children, six sons and three daughters. She died at the Community Memorial Hospital on April 25, 1963 at the age of 81 years, three months and 27 days, following a lingering illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Lyle and one that was stillborn; one sister, Mrs. Ida Houchin of Chicago; and one brother, Lee Taylor of Minneapolis.
She is survived by her husband; four sons, Clifford and Kenneth of Postville, Roy of Castalia, and Lloyd of Moline, Illinois; three daughters, Ruby, Mrs. T. W. Crago of Wonder Lake, Illinois, Naomi, Mrs. Ervin Hull of Crystal Lake, Illinois and Iva, Mrs. Frank Bruckner of Postville; 25 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville on Monday, April 29, at 2:30 with the Rev. Charles E. Witt officiating. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
