Obit for Mrs. Ole Engrav
Mrs. Ole Engrav a long time resident of this area, passed away at the Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, WI, early Thursday morning, April 25 at the age of 89 years and 2 months from a lingering illness.
The former Caroline Larson was born February 23, 1879 in Winneshiek County, Decorah, IA to John and Ingeborg Larson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Glenwood Lutheran Church by Pastor Anlund.
On February 23, 1898 she was united in marriage to Ole Engrav. They farmed in Iowa for 16 years, coming to Highland Prairie in 1914. She was a faithful member of the Highland Prairie Church and its Ladies Aid.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1956. After the death of her husband, she made her home with her youngest son, Forrest on the family farm until July 1967 when her health failed she went to live with her daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Jahr in Rushford.
Surviving are Forrest, Lloyd, Mrs. Raymond (Esther) Jahr, Rushford; Halvor, Winona; Leonard, Lewiston; Clarence, Mabel, Mrs. Arnold (Irene) Bakkum, Mrs. Carl (Cora) Christenson, Lawrence, all of Waukon, IA; Mrs. Melvin (Emma) Anderson, Waterville, IA; Mrs. Juel (Edna) Moe and Henry, Decorah, IA; Mrs. Marie Helgemoe, Minneapolis. Two brothers, Albert Larson, Waucoma, IA and Oliver Larson, Zumbrota; 38 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren. One son, one sister and four brothers have preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 27 at the Highland Prairie Lutheran Church, the Rev. R.K. Livdahl officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Marlin Engrav, Steven Engrav, Dennis Engrav, Allen Anderson, Barry Engrav, and Arnold Helgemoe.
Mrs. Engrav was a kind and devoted christian mother and grandmother who will be missed by her family and many friends.
