Obituary of Wilhelm Stock Waukon Democrat July 15, 1899
DIED
STOCK--At his home about four miles east of Waukon, Monday, July 10, 1899, William Stock aged 70 years and 16 days.
Mr. Stock was born in Hohenhausen, Lippe Detmold, Germany, June 21, 1829. He came to America in 1856 and the same year married Miss Fredrica Dravis and they have ever since for forty three years made the farm in Jefferson township their home. To them were born nine children, William and Henry of Howard, Dakota; Minnie, now Mrs. F. W. Steffen of Harbine, Nebraska; and Charles, August, Sophia, Theodore, Ludwig (Louis), and Edward of Waukon, who with his wife survive to mourn his loss.
He was a model husband and father, a kind neighbor and good citizen and an earnest Christian. He was one of the organizers and always one of the chief supporters of the German Reform Church near which he lived and his quiet kind, charitable, peaceable, loving life was an exemplification of the Christianity he professed. The funeral will be held tomorrow, Thursday, July 13th at the East German Reform Church, services conducted by Rev. G. D. Elliker of Waukon, and his remains will find a resting place in its cemetery.
