Minnie Hefty Called By Death
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock by Rev. Henry C. Marks, for Minnie Hefty, lifelong resident of Lansing, who passed away Friday morning at St. Francis Hospital, LaCrosse. Death resulted from complications following a fractured leg which occurred a little more, than six weeks previous.

She was born Oct. 27, 1861 at Lansing, daughter of the late Henry and Barbara Hefty, pioneer residents of this community. Following her education in the city school part of her early life was spent in Dubuque, Minneapolis and LaCrosse, later returning to Lansing which has been her home, for many years. At an early age she was united with the German Presbyterian church, and while health, permitted was an active and charitable leader in its work, a kind neighbor and friend, and a real Christian woman. In recent years she suffered considerable with eye trouble but, was patient and forbearing with her affliction and in her last hospitalization greatly appreciated the cards and letters from former acquaintances.

Her parents and several brothers and sisters preceded her in death, and left to mourn her passing are three sisters; Miss Mary Hefty, Tacoma, Wash.; Mrs. Louisa Sippel, Dubuque, and Mrs. Barney DuCharme, Prairie du Chien, Wis., and one brother, Henry, of Lansing, besides a number of nieces and nephews.
Special music at the church services consisted of solos, "Rock of Ages" and "'Goodnight, Goodnight," sung by Mrs. Theodore Schott and Mrs. Ada Bauman, accompanied on the organ by Miss Selma Ruprecht. The crowded church bore mute evidence of the high esteem in which she was held in this community.
Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery and carrying her mortal remains to their final resting place were William Saam, Ermie Gaunitz; Henry Rettinger, Arthur Wendel, Fred Bartheld, and Joseph Rice.

Among the out-of-town relatives attending the funeral services were Mrs. Louis Sippel and son Harold and wife and son Robert, Dubuque; and Mrs. Barney,Du Charme, son Lawrence and their daughter, Mrs. Anderson and husband,. Prairie du Chien, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. George MacLahlan and son Donald and daughter Miriam, LaCrosse; Miss Klara Hefty, Sparta, and Mrs. Al Hefty, Waterloo, Iowa.
