Within a year the Solemn Reaper has again stretched forth his hand with a keen sickle, in which is known as the Philip Leppert home, this time taking Andrew William at the Lutheran Hospital at LaCrosse, Wis., on the 22nd day of February, 1927.
Mr. Leppert submitted to an operation which was only thought to be a minor one, proved however more complicate. He went to the hospital a week before passing over the great beyond, as far as human nature could determine, a healthy person. The word of his departure came as a shock to the entire community.
He was a kind esteemed brother, very kind to his sister and brother. He loved peace and friendship. Never came there words from his lips that he insisted on having his own way. A willing hand to lend was his. The spirit of complaining and murmuring were not known in his life. His disposition was admired by neighbors and friends. Though not a member of the Methodist Episcopal church yet he had a place for her in his life. He spoke for the church in differents ways such as Christ referred to "that which ye have done unto the least of these ye have done it unto Me." He was a member of the Masonic order and loved by it's members.
The deceased was born on May 4, 1882, in French Creek township, Allamakee County, Iowa. His age at the time of his untimely death was 44 years, 9 months, and 18 days. Mr Leppert was conscious until the very last summons, closing his eyes as if he was going to sleep to awaken in the morning, which will now be for him when the trumpet shall sound.
He leaves to mourn his untimely death to which we must say, "Not ours but thy will be done, Oh Lord," a sister, Sadie, and a brother, Clarence, a number of uncles and aunts with ther relatives and friends.
Interment was made in the Oak Hill cemetery at Lansing, The Rev. Arthur C. Prust officiated at the home Friday afternoon and spoke on "God's Mercy and Man's Frailty", Ps 103, the Masonic order of burial being held at the cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Wiehe of McCook, Nebr., were out of state relatives present at the services.
