Mrs.R.Bakewell Dies Wednesday
HER HUSBAND AND FOUR SONS SURVIVE;
FUNERAL WILL BE CONDUCTED FRIDAY
Mrs. Reuben Bakewell, 74 years old, passed away at her home in Lansing early Wednesday morning, following a lingering illness.
Flora H. Thompson, daughter of George A. and Elizabeth Thompson, was born in Lansing township March 10, 1862, where she. grew to womanhood. On June 20, 1883, she was united in marriage to Reuben Bakewell of Lansing township, where they made their home, for a number of years.
Mrs. Bakewell had been in ill health for a number of years and with her husband spent a winter in Florida, hoping that her health would be improved by a change of climate. In 1925, having rented their farm, they moved to Lansing, hoping to enjoy the comforts of their modern home and take a much deserved and needed rest.
Soon after retiring her health rapidly failed and five years ago she suffered a paralytyic stroke, and has since been an invalid. She was a patient sufferer and her firm belief and love for her Master helped her to pray when life seemed unbearable.
Mrs. Bakewell was a member of the Presbyterian church and also of the Ladies' Guild, taking an active part in both as long as her health permitted.
One daughter Mattie (Mrs. George Leppert) preceded her in death, also a son, Charles Roland, who died December 14, 1926,
Those who survive and mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother are her husband, who all through his wife's long illness spared nothing that would give her comfort; four sons, Ben of Eagle Bend, Minn., Harry of Kasson, Minn., Arthur of California, and George of Maywood, Ill.
She also leaves to mourn the following brothers: Frank of Lansing, Will of Caledonia, Robert of New Albin and Harry of Bellflower, California, and one sister, Mary of Duluth, Minn. Five brothers preceded her in death: Richard, John, James, George, Alexandra and Thomas.
Funeral services will be held from the Federated' church at 2 o'clock Friday, conducted by the Reverend L. T. Krebs. Burial will be made in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery.
