Arlene Lauryane Jones

Funeral services were held Friday, June 27, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, Iowa, with Pastor Rusty Phillips officiating, for Arlene Lauryane Jones. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery, Rossville, Iowa.

Arlene Lauryane Jones, 73, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. She was born June 17, 1935 in rural Harpers Ferry, the daughter of Peter and Emma (Huffman) Fish. She attended rural country schools in the Harpers Ferry area.

On August 19, 1951 she married Herman LeRoy Jones in Waukon. Arlene worked for McGregor Electronics in McGregor, Iowa, before she went to work for Northern Engraving in Waukon, working there for many years before retiring. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Arlene loved her dog Abby.

Survivors include her children: Harry (Sandy) Jones, Henry (Elfrieda) Jones, Herman (Lori) Jones, Jr., Heidi (Kevin) Trotter, Hal (Lois) Jones, Hillary (Tom) Ede, all of Harpers Ferry; Hilda (Herman) King, Harley (Cathy) Jones, both of Marquette; Hope (Chopper) Garin of McGregor; Holly (Steve) Wagner of Lynxville, WI; Helen (Bob) McGeough, of Waterville, Iowa; Howard (Trish) Jones of Waukon Junction, Iowa; Hattie (Terry) Nemmers of Honolulu, Hawaii and Heather (Grant) Nuehring of Lansing. Also surviving are 42 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Ed Young of Waterville, Iowa; 3 sisters-in-law, Dolores Fish of Waukon, Merle Mae Fish of Wheatland, Iowa and Helen Sawvell of Rockford, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman who died in 1982; a daughter, Harlene Young; 4 grandchildren, Timothy Johanningmeier, Clint Jones, Georgina Gates and Mark Wagner; 5 brothers, Lawrence, Raymond, Leo, Crayton and Earl Fish; and a sister-in-law, Harriet Fish.

Honorary casketbearers are Dave, Jack and Ken Fish and Ben Jones. Casketbearers are Harley, Henry, Herman, Howard, Hal and Harry Jones.
