Funeral Services Held For Josephine Topliff

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 1 at the Community Presbyterian Church for Josephine Topliff who died August 29 at the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville. The Rev. Dick Harberts officiated. Interment was in Phelps Cemetery, Decorah.

Mrs. Topliff was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Alice Webster Lennon. She was born August 26, 1885 on a farm in Frankville Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa. She received her education in the Decorah Public School, graduating in 1905. She was married to Dr. Ray F. Topliff in 1910 and worked in his dental office for many years.

Survivors include a nephew, Donald Lennon and a niece, Mrs. Edward Nugent, both of Decorah, and a number of cousins.

Preceding her in death were her husband in 1951, her parents, a brother, Burt Lennon in 1975 and a sister, Mrs. Ruby Reed, who died in 1966.

Mrs. Topliff was a member of the Eastern Star, was Worthy Matron for two years and appointed Grand Representative to British Columbia from Iowa. She was also a member of the Past Matrons Club, PEO Sisterhood, the Commercial Club, the Community Presbyterian Church and the U. P. W. Association.
