Arthur J. Thoma
Arthur J. Thoma, 75, of Waukon, died March 16 at the Good Samaritan Center, Waukon.
Services were held Tuesday, March 19, 1991, 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Chapel, Waukon, with Rev. Julius Peterson officiating. Burial was in the Salem Cemetery. Military graveside rites were held by Postville veterans.
Arthur J. Thoma, son of Fred and Ethel (McWilliams) Thoma was born November 28, 1915 at Postville, IA. He was a graduate of Postville High School and Coe College, Cedar Rapids.
On October 5, 1940 he married Inez Kiesau at Salem United Church of Christ.
He was a lifetime Postville area resident before moving to Waukon in 1985.
He was a Lineman/Troubleshooter for REC and Interstate of Postville. He was a Sgt. in the U. S. Army during World War II and saw action in Germany including the "Battle of the Bulge".
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez, who died July 14, 1984; his parents and a brother Nierling Thoma.
Survivors include 7 nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: Dan Schlitter, Jim Stock, Lloyd Clark, Hall Roberts, Kent Schlitter and Rob Schlitter.
