MRS. CARL MILLER* PASSES AWAY AT HER HOME HERE
Mrs. Carl Mueller* (nee Louise Michael) was born in Strelitz, Mecklenburg Schwerein, Germany, September 18, 1857 and died at her home in Postville, Iowa, at 9:30 o'clock on Wednesday evening, October 10, 1928, aged 71 years and 22 days.
Her early years were passed in her native city, where she was baptized and by the rite of confirmation received as a communicant member of the Lutheran church.
September 20, 1881, she was united in marriage with Carl Miller* of Strelitz, Germany, and in 1881 with their family they emigrated to the United States, settling at once in this locality, where they have since continued to reside and became members of St. Paul's Lutheran congregation.
Their union was blessed with thirteen children, nine of whom survive, viz: Henry Mueller* of near Postville, August Mueller* at home, Edith (Mrs. Frank Bellows) of Dubuque, Willie Mueller* of Postville, Bertha (Mrs. John L. Gregg) of Postville, Gusta (Mrs. Howard Wyckoff) of Pittsburg, Pa., Manda (Mrs. Clarence Smith) of Waterloo, Anna (Mrs. Wilbert Wilke) of Postville and Louis Mueller* also of Postville.
Besides these she is survived by her loving husband, a sister living in Cleveland, Ohio, twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Mueller* was a devoted wife, a kind and affectionate mother and a faithful friend, whose passing will bring a pang of sorrow to all who knew her.
The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city last Saturday afternoon, Rev. E. T. Finck officiating, and the large assemblage of sorrowing friends and many beautiful floral offerings all fully attested the high esteem in which deceased was held by the community in which she had resided for so many years. Interment in Postville cemetery.
Those from out of town here to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Howard Wyckoff of Pittsburg, Pa., Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Art Shafer, and Mrs. Art Stolle, all of Waterloo.
