Dr. Everette E. Linn, 84, of Waukon, died Saturday, October 26, 2002, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 30, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial will be Thursday at Shelby Cemetery in Shelby, Iowa. Friends may call from 4: 00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. Dr. Everette Edward Linn was born on January 17, 1918, on the Shelby farm of his parents, Franklin Bryce and Elizabeth (Walker) Linn. He was baptized and confirmed at the Shelby Methodist Church and graduated from Shelby High School in 1936. He attended the University of Iowa, where he studied political science for 3 years. Following the outbreak of WWII, he was a First Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945, serving as a bombadeer on B-17s. Everette was stationed in England and flew 33 missions with the 100th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force. On December 31, 1942, he married Jane Triller in Tampa, Fla. Following the service, he attended Iowa State University where he graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 1950. He practiced in Ackley from 1950 until 1963, when he moved to Waukon and served as District Veterinarian for the State of Iowa until 1965. He then went into private practice in the Waukon area until his retirement. Everette served as a city councilman, was a member of BPOE and Masonic Lodge, and was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at the Presbyterian Church when he lived in Ackley. He was also a member of American Legion and VFW as well as various professional veterinary associations. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time on the Mississippi River, golfing, gardening, and woodworking. He was an avid reader and particularly interested in historical articles. Survivors include his wife, Jane of Waukon; three daughters, Janet Linn of Sante Fe Springs, Calif., Mary (Tom) Ryan of Washburn, Iowa, and Lisa Linn of Manchester, Iowa; two sons, Steven (Patricia) Linn of Solon and John (Kathryn) Linn of Burlington; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Leslie (Grace) Linn of Harlan and Frank (Ann) Linn of Sheffield. He is preceded in death by five brothers, Harry, Dwight, Hugh, Jacob, and Samuel; and three sisters, Gladys Simon, Laura Linn, and Fern Robinson. Casket bearers are Brett Thomas, Michael Linn, Shawn Linn, John Ryan, Tom Quandahl, and Cletus Althoff.
