Rites Held For Former Resident

Funeral services for Gilbert Stockman, 70, who died last Wednesday, were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday from Holy Name Church, West Union, with the Rev. Kenneth Ryan officiating. Interment was in Grandview cemetery.

Gilbert Joseph Stockman, son of John and Emma Stockman, was born August 9, 1888 at Postville and died at the age of 70 years, two months and 13 days.

On August 13, 1917 he was united in marriage with Ida Bartels at Mason City. To this union five children were born.

The couple made their home in Postville until 1939 when they moved to West Union. Mr. Stockman lived there until about a month ago when he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Levi Gage at Fayette.

Surviving are the children: Lorraine, Mrs. George Alexander, West Union, Charles of Hawkeye, Alberta, Mrs. Levi Gage of Fayette, Darlene, Mrs. Leland Clark of West Union, JoAnn, Mrs. Duane Behnken of Colesburg; 30 grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Ed of Alpine, California; one sister, Anna Brown of Austin, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife.
