MRS. JOHN (Edith Orr) PALAS

Funeral services for Edith Palas were held Wednesday, April 20 at 2 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral home in Postville. Rev. Terrance P. Hennesy officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.

Edith Palas, daughter of Darius and Bertha (Harris) Orr, was born September 13, 1892 near Postville, Iowa. She died Monday morning, April 18, 1988 at her home in Postville.

She graduated from the Postville High School. On December 13, 1918 she married John H. Palas. She has lived in the Postville area all of her life.

Edith was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, who died April 6, 1973, and 2 sisters, Esther Swenson and Ethel Opper.

She is survived by a sister, Eve Orr, Postville, a niece, Helen M. Saeugling, Monona, a nephew, Leo McNeil, Reston, VA, and a brother-in-law, George Opper, Riverside, IL.

Casket bearers were Matt Erickson, Scott Schroeder, Kim Schutte, Hall Roberts, Rudy Hartwig and Darwin Fritz.
