Death of Life Long Resident

We made a brief announcement last week of the death of Daniel Haas, which took place at 5 o'clock Tuesday morning, March 24, at his home five and a half miles northeast of Waukon, after an illness of several months duration with heart trouble.
The deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Haas, pioneer settlers near Lycurgus, was born Feb. 22, 1862, within a short distance of the home in which he passed away and had spent his entire life in that community. He was united in marriage with Johanna Troendle nearly forty years ago and she, with four children born to them, Edward B., Mrs. Ed Duggan, Wm. L. and Theodore, all living in this vicinity, are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and kind and indulgent father.
He is also survived by two brothers, John, Florence, S.D., and Ben of Lycurgus, and five sisters, Mrs. Thos Teeling, Mrs. M. Schobert, Mrs. F. Troendle, Mrs. P. Zabolitzky, all of Lansing, and Mrs. Wm. Schobert of Chicago.
Mrs. Haas was an industrious, honest, upright man, a good friend and neighbor and will be sincerely mourned by all who knew him.
The funeral was held Thursday forenoon at the Lycurgus Church. Requiem High mass was celebrated by Msgr. Haxmeier of Lansing, assisted by Rev. Fathrs Stuart of Waukon and McNamara of Lycurgus, after which the remains were deposited in their last resting place in Lycurgus cemetery.
