James H. Springsteen, 60, of Waukon, died Sunday, December 19, 2004, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wis., following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Rev. Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
James Harvey Springsteen was born January 21, 1944, in Dowagiac, Mich., the son of John and Gladys (Feirick) Springsteen. He attended elementary and high school in Cassopolis, Mich.
On December 21, 1972, he married Teletha Rosendahl at Bethel United Church in Cassopolis. He was baptized at Decorah Lutheran Church in Decorah. James retired from Northern Engraving in Lansing, Iowa, in 2002.
He loved bowling, watching football and NASCAR, working on cars, and doing things on the computer. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Teletha of Waukon; a son, James N. (Trina) of McGregor; two daughters, Samantha (John) Hancock and Megan Springsteen, both of Waukon; four grandchildren, Dalton and Mariah Hancock and Benjamin and Rebecca Springsteen; two sisters, Jackie (Earl) Hotrum of Dowagiac, and Janice Northrup; a brother, Jerry (Cheryl) Springsteen of Dowagiac; his father-in-law, Norman Rosendahl of Waukon; a sister-in-law, Judy Springsteen of Dowagiac; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Max; and a sister, Joyce.
Casketbearers are Greg and Conrad Rosendahl, Mike Howard, Jerry Goeke, Brett Rickard, and Brian Batchelor.
