Truck Kills Lansing Man
Iowa City- A construction worker was killed Wednesday afternoon 1 ½ miles east of Iowa City while he was working on the interstate 80 paving project.

Kermit Hirth, 54, of Lansing was killed when a truck driven by John Davis of Washington backed over him. Davis was following the normal backing procedures when Hirth inadvertently got behind him.

Both men were employed by the Fred Carlsen Co. of Decorah, contractor for the paving project

Kermit G. Hirth was the youngest child of Louis and Emma (Wild) Hirth and died 26 Sep 1962. He is buried in May’s Prairie Cemetery.
