Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday,September 22, at the Castalia Zion Church for Mrs. Ed Preuss who died Sunday September 19, 1971 at the Palmer Memorial Hospital,West Union,following a lingering illness.The Rev. Arthur J. Tolo officiated.

Florence Amelia Schroeder,daughter of John and Martha Brandt Schroeder was born July 24, 1903 near Castalia and attended schools in that area,She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church,Postville,by Rev. Gass and she was confirmed at Castalia Zion Church April 1,1917. She was a member of the Rebecca Circle.

January 16, 1920, she was united in marriage to Edward Preuss at Decorah.Surviving children are Juanita(Mrs. Merle Monroe)Castalia: Ramona(Mrs. Norman Svendsen)Ossian:Harold Preuss,Castalia and Wanda(Mrs Rober McNally,Luana. There are 26 grandchildren and four great grandchildren surviving,Also three sisters,Emma(Mrs. W.C.Koenig)Castalia: Selma(Mrs Alvin Neuhring) and Mrs Clara Arndt,Mason City,Iowa and Herbert Schroeder,Castalia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters,Ruth(Mrs. Claude Weaver) and Elsie(Mrs. Walter Schultz), a half brother Louis Brandt and three grandchildren.
Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery,Castalia.
