Former New Albin Resident Passes Away in Chicago
Henry H. Metzdorf 58, son of the late Peter Metzdorf passed away Thursday p.m. in Chicago where he made his home. He was employed as a pipefitter for about the past fourteen years. Prior to that he had been a resident of New Albin where he was born December 8, 1896 and received his education. He had been in failing health due to several heart attacks. In recent weeks he appeared in better health and was at work last week so his sudden death came as a shock to family and friends.
On December 29, 1918 he was married to Miss Hazelle Haas and they were the parents of four sons; Addis, Nathan, Harris and Bernard who with their mother of Chicago are left to mourn. Other survivors include three grandchildren, a brother and sister; Hiller and Florence of New Albin, two sisters; Kate and Mary of LaCrosse, Wis. There are several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church and the Loyal Order of Moose for the past eleven years.
The funeral services were held on Monday a.m. from the Catholic Church in New Albin with Rev. J. J. Costello offering the Mass and prayers at the graveside.
Casketbearers were; Leo (unreadable), John Rouster, James Kitchens, Otto Kubitz, John Laroach and Joe Burke.Allamakee Journal April 14, 1954
