Margaret Haas

Death came as a blessed relief to Miss Margaret Haas at St. Francis Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis. On Good Friday April 7th after two years illness with Diabetes. She had been there the past several months, the patient sufferer of the disease in its severest form.
Deceased was born May 1860 at the old farm homestead near Lycurgus, the sixth daughter of Landolin and Elizabeth Haas, pioneer settlers of Allamakee County.
She was educated in the rural schools and at an early age studied and learned the art of sewing becoming an expert seamstress.
She continued this work all her life until physically unable to do so. As (Maggie) Haas she was familiarly known to all friends, having resides here nearly all her life, except her early girlhood years on the farm and ten years spent in Great Falls, Mont.
She never married and devoted her life to her home, the church and her friends. She was a life long member of the Rosary Society and also belonged to St. Elizabeth Circle Study Club.
Besides her parents, three sisters and one brother precedes her in death.
Left to mourn are her sisters; Mrs. Mary Hoffman of Lansing, Mrs. Caroline Schierbrock and Miss Ellen Haas of West Point, Iowa, Sister Leonina, St. Rose Con., Mrs. Ed Teeling of French Creek Twp.
The remains were brought from LaCrosse by the Saam and Hearse and taken to her home, where she was waked Sunday night. The funeral services were conducted Monday morning at 9:00 at I. C. Church, Monsgr. G. L. Haxmeier said mass. Burial was in the family lot at St. Marys Cem. Lycurgus. Casket bearers were; (balance is unreadable)
