Funeral Held Here Today
Mrs. Mary Hoffman Burial at Lycurgus
Funeral services were conducted today, May 23, 1945 for Mrs. Mary Hoffman, 92, who passed away Saturday May 19th at Independence following a two months illness. Death was caused by infirmities of old age.
Mary Ann Hoffman was born nee Mary Ann Haas on August 9, 1852, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lindlin (Landelon) Haas. She was a life long resident of Allamakee county. Later on life she was united in marriage to Joseph Hoffman who preceded her in death in 1921.
Survivors are four daughters: Mrs. Amelia Teff, Dorchester, Iowa; Mrs. Eve Mauss, Waukon, Iowa; Mrs Margaret Winey, Madison, Wis., and Mrs. Matilda Hammel, New Albin, Ia. four sisters also survive: Sister M. Leonina and Sister Rose Cenven of LaCrosse, Wis., Mrs. Carrie Shurbrock, West Point, Iowa; and Mrs. Christena Teeling of Waukon. Fourteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren also survive.
Services were conducted from the Martin Funeral Home at 9 o’clock a.m. and from the Lycurgus Catholic church at 9:30 o’clock a.m., the Rev. T. O’Toole officiating. Burial was made in Lycurgus. Pallbearers were Carlton Teff, Raymond Mauss, Joseph Mauss, Vincent Hammel, Frank Teeling and Leo HaasAllamakee Newspaper
