OBITUARY,LIZZIE HECKMAN Thornton

Lizzie Heckman,was born Nov. 21,1869 in Westphalia,Germany and came with her parents to America in 1883. Was married to Henry A. Thornton,Feb.28,1893, and died at home near Castalia,Iowa,Nov.9,1909. She was the mother of ten children,four of whom preceded her in death. She leaves a father, husband and six children,two sisters and four brothers to mourn her departure. She was a true wife,a loving and devoted mother,a friend constant and faithful.

Thrice since June eleventh,have we been called to this home to bury its beloved dead. The billows of sorrow have rolled high over it. It is sometimes hard to understand why. But our heavenly Father knows best,he giveth ,he taketh away. She will be missed in the home and in the community. As the end drew near, she signified her readiness and her willingness to,expressing in unmistakable terms her faith in the risen Christ who said "Because I live,ye shall live also".

Her funeral was held U.B. church in Castalia November eleventh,conducted by Rev. Joseph Penn.Interment in Postville Cemetery.
