The not unexpected demise of Jerry Cummens occurred Sunday at his home in this city. He had been in failing health the past year from a stomach trouble from which no relief could be secured. Deceased was 49 years of age, his birthplace being West Virginia. Waukon has been his home for many years where his familiar face and genial, cheerful disposition has been known to all, and from all there came words of sorrow and regret when it was learned of late that his life was to be of but short duration. He is survived by a widow and three children, and Mrs. W. H. Robbins, a step daughter. A brother, Elias Cummens, and sister, Mrs. Chas. Schlischer, also reside here. The funeral takes place this afternoon from the C.P. church. Waukon Democrat Wed. Jan 2, 1901
