Margaret Ann Cummens was born in Waukon, Iowa, May 17, 1886. She grew up in Waukon except staying for months with her sister Ella at Elkader and Guttenberg. June 12th, 1909, she was united in marriage with Walter W. Perkins. They lived for some time at Minneapolis, moving from there to Chicago, their happy life being marred only by sickness. To them was born a son, May 28, 1910 thus adding to their joy. Years ago Maggie became a follower of the Christ and during all of her long illness her faith in God never wavered. A few weeks ago she was removed from Chicago to her childhood home and spent the remainder of her days with her sister, Mrs. Robbins. During her stay here she desired to dedicate herself to God in Baptism, and it was the pleasure of myself to perform for her the solemn ceremony. All that lovng hearts and faithful hands could do or device was done by husband and relatives and friends, but nothing could stay the hand of disease, and on May 18th 1916, she fell asleep as quietly and peacefully as an infant. "Asleep in Jesus! Blessed sleep, From which none ever wake to weep. A calm and undisturbed repose, Unbroken by the last of foes." Her age was 30 years and 1 day. She leaves her husband and little boy, her mother, one brother Arthur and two sisters, Mrs. Wm. H. Robbins and Mrs. Burt Grimm of Waukon. Funeral services at the Presbyterian church Saturday, May 20th, conducted by the pastor and burial in the Oakland cemetery. -- Card of Thanks. For their thoughtful kindness, for the sympathy and for other remembrances, we wish to thank our friends the loss of wife, and daughter, and neighbors who helped to make sister less hard to bear. Walter Perkins and Son, Mrs. Amelia Cummens and Family. Waukon Republican May 24, 1916
