Cecil T. Rouster, age 72, of New Albin, Iowa, died Saturday evening, April 8, 2006, at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the New Albin Community Center in New Albin with Rev Jim Olsen officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in New Albin, where military rites will be accorded by the Kenneth Casey Post #5603 of the VFW. Friends may call Wednesday from noon until time of services at the Community Center. Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Cecil was born in New Albin August 5, 1933, to Peter and Rose Mary (Freilinger) Rouster. Cecil served in the Army from 1952 to 1955, completing a tour of duty in Korea. For many years he worked road construction in northeast Iowa.
He is survived by four sisters, Viola Wiemerslage of New Albin; Philamanie “Butch” Schutz of Caledonia, Minn.; Helen (Blaine) Gaare of Mabel, Minn., and Evangeline “Vangie” Schellsmidt of Caledonia; and other relatives.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold and Irvin.
Casketbearers are Kristy Benrud, Joe Colsch, Craig Wiemerslage, Aubry Snodgrass, Christopher Re, and Craig Decker.
