Obituary - Frank Hirth

Frank Hirth, eldest son of Louis and Emma Hirth, was born at Church, Iowa, Feb. 28, 1890, and spent his entire life in that community. In 1911 he suffered an attack of scarlet fever which impaired his hearing. This impediment kept him from taking part and enjoying many social activities. He was married at Church, Iowa, on Aug. 14, 1918, to Helen Martha Wiehe of Clinton, Iowa. This union was blessed with two daughters, Florence Kathryn and Wilma Louise, who, with their mother, mourn the loss of a loving father and husband.

Mr. Hirth was a prominent farmer and stockman, and for years has been considered one of the county's most successful breeders of Black Angus cattle. Since last September Mr. Hirth had been suffering from heart disease. He suffered several severe attacks during the last two months, and, on Saturday, Dec. 10th, he was stricken with the fatal attack. He had made two trips to Lansing during the day and that evening retired at about 9:30. At 11:15 his wife found him suffering and struggling for life and done everything possible to give relief but all efforts failed and he departed this life at 11:20 P.M., at the age of 42 years, 9 months and 12 days.

He leaves to mourn his wife, two daughters, four sisters, Mrs. Cora Lenz, of Eagle Bend, Minn., Mrs. Nora Robinson, of LaCrosse, Wis., Mrs. Flavia Wilkins, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Christian Hamlin, Omaha, Nebr., and one brother, Kermit, of Church. Also a host of friends which he had made during his lifetime by his honest dealings with his fellowmen.

Deceased was a loving husband and father, a good neighbor and in every way a man of good habits. By his sudden death we are reminded of the words of the Lord: "Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live." May the Lord comfort the bereaved relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the home on May's Prairie, Rev. C. H. Hoffman of Churchtown officiating, and burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
