Florence Tina Appel died Wednesday, May 27, 1987 in Community Memorial Hospital at Postville, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 30, 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
Florence Tina Appel, daughter of John and Anna (Reincke) Saueresig, was born December 15, 1904 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She was baptized June 25, 1905 and confirmed September 8, 1918 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. She attended the Postville schools.
July 19, 1923 she was married to Otto Appel. They had 3 children. They farmed for a short time and for 4 years operated the Palm Cafe in Postville. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville.
Preceding her in death were her parents and 4 sisters, Meta, Lucille, Helen and Alma and a brother, Edwin Saueresig.
Surviving are her husband, Otto, 3 daughters, Verda Mae Youngberg, El Mirage, AZ, Maxine (Mrs. Eugene Suddendorf) and Vivian (Mrs. Francis Buren), Postville, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a brother, Harold Saueresig, Waukon, a sister, Elta Kuhse, Burlington and a sister-in-law, Theresa Saueresig, Decorah.
Casket bearers were Michael Buren, Daniel Buren, David Buren, Jeffrey Huinker, Kevin Suddendorf, Gary Suddendorf, Ronald Suddendorf, Geno Youngberg and Mark Bowman.
