JOHNSTON

I am trying to find out more about Helen Johnston b. abt 1925 in Ohio; Father George Johnston. I have the military data found online but no exact birth date, mother's name or anything about her family. Was she a machinist or a nurse in the war? The letter I have doesn't state her job.

She was a WAC and SGT in WW II and was killed in France 25 Mar 1946. She is buried in Epinal American Cemetery in France. Find A Grave Memorial# 56373316 at www.findagrave.com

I have a copy of a letter she wrote from Manila to what appears to be her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Geo. Johnston in Corning, Iowa. She started the letter 10 June 1945 - Dear Mother and Estelle.

I thought she was a relative of my husband but my Helen's father was Amos Johnston.

A person at the cemetery would like to know more about Sgt. Helen Johnston.

Was there anything in the Adams Co. newspaper after 25 Mar 1946 about Helen's death, etc.? Her parents apparently lived in Corning, IA.
