funeral services for Mrs. Ivy Ann Daugherty, 77, of Nodaway were held Sunday, March 3, at the Pitman funeral home in Villisca, conducted by Rev. W. A. Andre, pastor of the Methodist Church in Nodaway. Mrs. Daugherty died Thursday, February 28, at Rosary Hospital in Corning.
Singing at the funeral was by Mrs. Icle Fisher, accompanied by Mrs. Mable Dunn. Pall bearers were Harold Everett, Willie Orme, Fred Carothers, Hill Bowman, Gilbert Rider, and Ben Baker and interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery.
Ivy Ann Osborne, daughter of Thomas Wesley and Martha R. Osborn, was born near Clarinda in Page County, Iowa, December 2, 1879.
At an early age she moved with her parents to Nodaway and maintained her permanent residence there. She was one of a family of 6 children, two brothers and one sister, having preceded her in death.
For many years she followed her chosen profession as a nurse and was well known in both her community and the surrounding vicinities.
She was united in marriage March 19, 1927 to William Ezekiel Daugherty, who preceded her in death in November 1944. she leaves a foster son, Kenneth Dean Elrod, two sisters, Mrs. Lily Hawk, Omaha, Nebraska and Blanche Osborne, Nodaway.
For twelve years, she and her sister operated a nursing home in Nodaway, but sold their home and located in Red Oak, returning later to make Nodaway their final place of residence.
