William Ezekiel Daughtery, who was a resident of Adams County for many years, died at Hesly, Lane County, Kansas July 29, 1901. The deceased was born in Pennsylvania ion 1827, moved to Iowa in 1852, and from there to Kansas in 1883. He was a successful civil engineer, being employed by the government in that capacity for many years. He held the office of county surveyor in Adams County for a number of terms and was several times re-elected to the same office in Kansas. He was noted for his untiring energy and up to the time of his last illness led an unusually busy life. He was a faithful, consistent member of the Presbyterian Church, an elder of that church at Manning, Kansas. He leaves a wife and nieces children, to of whom are residents of Iowa. Mrs. W. B. Gray, a daughter lived near Carbon and a son Charles, who lives near Fontanelle.
