DIED

Elwin Wilson Day died last Wednesday at his home in Douglas township. He was injured last fall by falling from an apple tree and has not been well since, but was not considered seriously ill, being able to be up the night before his death. He took severe pains about the heart about 11 o’clock and died before medical aid could reach him.

The deceased was born in Dearborn county, Indiana, September 25, 1846, and was 60 years, 4 months and 18 days old at the time of death. He was married to Miss Nancy Caroline Amdor December 24, 1867, at Lawrenceburg, Indian, and in 1870 came to this county. Three years later he located on the farm which has since been his home.

To Mr. and Mrs. Day were born eight children, five of whom are living, they being Omer Day, of Villisca; Mrs. John Friman, of Carbon; Mrs. Joe Mason, of Nodaway; D. R. and C. W. Day who reside at home.

He leaves two brothers, S. E. Day, of Artesian, South Dakota, and Mahlon Day, of Milan, Indiana, one sister, Mrs. Ellen Maloney, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a large circle of friends to mourn his loss.

Mr. Day was an enterprising man, respected by all who knew him. Adams county is certainly unfortunate in losing this gentleman from our midst. It is such men as he who have made our county one of the best.
