OBITUARY.

Edith May Day was born in Fayette county, Ill., on May 7th, 1872, and died at her home in Douglas township, Adams county, Iowa, on May 11th, 1911, being aged 39 years and 4 days. She was the youngest child of Samuel and Mary S. Day. Her father died in the year 1883.

She is survived by her mother, brother and sister, also four nieces and two nephews, besides many other relatives.

She united with the Baptist church at Corning a number of years ago and remaned [remained] a member of the same until her death.

She had been an invalid for the most of the time during the last twenty years. The last three years she suffered from tuberculosis, from which she died. She was a patient sufferer, a dutiful and loving daughter, a kind and dear sister and a true friend to all. A large concourse of relatives and friends gathered to pay their last respects to her. Rev. A. Y. Cupp conducted the service, assisted by Elder R. A. Bixler. Rev. Mr. Cupp preached from John 11:25, “I am the resurrection and the life,” and was followed by a brief address on the same subject by Elder Bixler.

Six young ladies, in white, were the pallbearers. There were many flowers in token of the love and respect toward her. She was laid to rest, in Woodlawn cemetery at Quincy.
