Sarah E. Huddleston was born May 9, 1862 at Mounds Station, Brown County, Illinois and died at her home seven and a half miles southeast of Nodaway, May 11, 1924, being 62 years and 2 days old. She was united in marriage to William Oscar Kemp on January 3, 1881. To this union six daughters were born. They are Mrs. Bertha Buss of Villisca, Mrs. Alma Gray, Canton, South Dakota, Mrs. Mary Thuman and Mrs. Ethel Wagaman of Nodaway, Mrs. Pearl Segriff of Nodaway vicnity, and Lena, at home. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and children, five sons-in-laws, twelve grandchildren, one grandson by marriage and a great grandchild and a host of relatives and friends.
Mrs. Kemp joined the Baptist church in Kansas 32 years ago and lived in that faith until she transferred her loyalty to the Methodist Church at Iveyville. She has suffered for many years, yet she was always cheerful and tried to make her suffering as cheerful as possible, always having a smile and pleasant voice for everybody. She was a kind and loving wife and mother.
Funeral services were conducted from the Iveyville Methodist Church by Rev. E. H. Jackson and interment made in Prairie Rose Cemetery, Tuesday afternoon, May 13, 1924.
