Margaret Brown Geary
Mrs. George Geary of Quincy vicinity was taken suddenly ill last Wednesday and the attending physician advised taking her to a hospital. She was taken to Creston to the Greater Community Hospital last Thursday morning and passed away at about 6:00 o'clock in the afternoon. She has suffered for some time with diabetes. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Quincy Church conducted by Rev. C. W. Johnson of Carbon and interment was made in the Prairie Rose Cemetery, beside her daughter, Edna, who preceded her mother to the great beyond.
Margaret Brown Geary, daughter of John I. and Louisa Brown was born in Buchanan County, Missouri, July 28, 1873 and died January 26, 1928 at the hospital in Creston, Iowa. She was united in marriage to George Geary November 11, 1897, at St. Joseph, Missouri and came to Iowa not quite a year later. To Mr. and Mrs. Geary, five children were born. Mrs. Geary leaves her husband and four children, one daughter, Edna, having preceded her in death. the surviving children are Mrs. Harold Davis, Mrs. Caleb Erakins, Jesse Geary, and Mrs. Leslie Hoselton. Beside her family, Mrs. Geary leaves three sisters and three brothers. They are Mrs. Eliza Downing, Miss Nannie Brown, W. T. Brown, Bud Brown, Frank Brown, of DeKalb, Missouri, and Mrs. Albert David of Weston, Missouri.
Mrs. Geary belonged to the Methodist Church in Quincy, having joined the church at Wallace, Missouri in her early youth and transferred her membership to Quincy. Mrs. Geary was a good mother, a kind neighbor and friend and will be greatly missed.
