Reuben Eugene Ruben, son of Frederick Charles Ruben and Althea Falkowski, was born July 8, 1936 in Corning and died November 22, 1975 in Rosary Hospital at the age of 39 years and 4 months and 14 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father on March 29, 1971 and his mother on June 11, 1973.
Those who mourn his departure are uncles and aunts, Mrs. Joe Rubin of Brooks, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Huntington of RR Corning, Emmett Rubin of Siam, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lundquist of Florida, Mr. and Mrs. Kapple of Council Bluffs, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bell of Loveland, Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. William Lyons of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mrs. Frances Bolin of Lenox, numerous cousins and many friends.
Though born with physical difficulties, Roger’s spirit was unaffected and far more liable of finding joy than the the majority of us who have no physical problems. The loving care given him by his parents was a witness both to their personal dedication and faithfulness and his willingness and ability to respond to the love so expressed while living on 8th Street was to watch the children as they passed by on their way to and from school to greet them himself when the weather was warm enough to be outside.
He became a resident of the Colonial Manor following the death of his father. In spite of the frequent difficulties with verbal communications, Rogers quick intelligence and ready appreciation for even the smallest of favors and attention found other avenues of expression through his eyes and wide smiles. It was little wonder he won the hearts of residents, visitors, and nursing home personnel alike.
He regarded Colonial Manor as his home in the truest sense of the word and would become quite excited at returning there following an absence.
He will be very much missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held at the Larkin Roland Funeral Home in Conring, November 24, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. James King officiating. Interment was in Methodist Grove Cemetery, Brooks, Iowa.
Music caw furnished by Dorothy Cook and Pattie Blackburn. Pall bearers were Ronald Rubin, Bod Nelson, James Walter, Drexel Lundquist, Terry Kapple and Richard Kapple.
