Anna Matilda Rubin was born in Columbiana County Ohio, October 6, 1865. She came with her parents Frederick W. Walter and Anna Elizabeth Schafroth, to Adams County, Iowa in 1888, where she has since resided. In 1887 she made a public profession of her faith in Christ and united with Mt. Zion congregation of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, in which she lived a devoted life until called to her reward. She was married on April 27, 1892 to Fred Ruben, of Mercer Township. Her father, one brother and one sister have preceded her o the spirit land. She leaves her husband, four little children, her mother, two brothers, five sisters, and many relatives and friends lingering here to mourn her seemingly premature departure from “the life that now is,” yet bowing patiently and submissively to our Father’s will. Her illness was brief. She bore her sufferings patiently, with no anxieties, save for the welfare of her prattling boys and girl. Surrounded by her husband, children, mother, two brothers, two sisters, and other sympathetic friends, she peacefully and triumphantly entered into rest March 5, 1902; aged 36 years, 4 months, and 29 days. Her funeral was conducted at her home by Rev. J. K. Driver, who delivered a very appropriate and touching address from Phil. 1:23, “Far Better” after which interment was made in the Methodist Grove Cemetery of Nodaway township.
