Leta Viola Rubin, 82, Corning, was born February 7, 1913 to Allen and Alta Lucinda Auxier Selders in Adams County. She died October 16, 1995 at Colonial Manor Care Center in Corning.
She graduated from high school in Montgomery County and taught a country school in Taylor County for four years.
On April 21, 1935, she was married to Joseph C. Rubin in the Iveyville Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Fairview Christian Church and Ladies Aide. She had many interest and hobbies in arts and crafts, specifically ceramics. She was a member of the Iowa China Painters’ Federation, The Rose Ann Hospital Auxiliary, and a member of various other clubs.
Mrs. Rubin was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1994, her step-mother, Ethel Selders, two sisters, Blanche Ryan and Thelma Smith, and brothers Dale and Wayne Selders.
She is survived by son Ronald (wife Hazel) Rubin, Des Moines; daughter Joleen (husband Robert) Nelson, Corning; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby Blackburn, Shenandoah; Ethel Jurshak, Elliott; and Barbara (husband Kennard) Cooney, Corning and brother Cleo (wife Shela) Selders, Corning.
Services were held October 18 at Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Corning with Reverend Neal Schroeder officiating. Burial was in Methodist Grove Cemetery, Brooks.
Casket bearers were Kurt Nelson, Joel Nelson, Randall Rubin, Kirk Rier, Mark Fuller, Kennard Cooney, and Percy Stielow.
Memorial May be made to Mercy Hospital or Fairview Christian Church.
